San Francisco Dark-Money Group Behind MI Tax Hike Ballot Measure
New financial disclosures reveal the San Francisco dark-money group, the Tides Foundation, is behind Michigan's November ballot measure to more than double the state's tax rate on successful small businesses and salarymen.
The report shows Tides Foundation has donated $525,000 to its Michigan front group, Invest in MI Kids, to advance this economic weapon of mass destruction. Tides does not have to disclose its funders, but is publicly associated with billionaire George Soros.
Tides funding has bankrolled radical political efforts such as "Defund the Police," Black Lives Matter, and DEI. In total, it distributes nearly half a billion dollars a year to activist groups to advance its far-left mission.
Tides donations account for essentially all of Invest in MI Kids' financial support, making this organization a mere San Francisco sockpuppet. In other words, the effort to raise Michigan's tax rate by 118% to the seventh-highest in the nation is nothing more than an out-of-state astroturf campaign with no grassroots support.
The tax hike ballot measure reflects San Francisco interests, not those of Michigan.
